our Mission

Granitesurf was born in Perelle on the West Coast of Guernsey during 2020. With a passion for surfing and a love for the beauty of Guernsey, founder Jon Smith started a sustainable brand to provide greater access to the exhilarating sport of body-surfing and to protect the local environment. Every Granite Hand-Plane is handmade and shaped on island using methods and finishes that combine minimal environmental impact with maximum quality and pleasure of use and ownership.

Every year many cheap, environmentally unfriendly body boards are bought. These boards break, get discarded and cause pollution on the beaches and in the sea. Body boards are also hard to take home via boat or plane by visitors and get left behind as rubbish. Granite Hand-Planes are sustainable, built to last and convenient to travel with. They also provide one of the most fun ways to interact with the sea and waves!
