It has a wide point forward of the handle that provides good flotation, a larger planing surface and easy entry into waves. The outline shape then tapers to a rounded diamond tail at the back of the hand-plane. This provides a sharper, more pivotal turning experience over a rounded tail. The rails are rounded at the front and smoothly blend into a hard edge release at the rear. The subtle front rocker prevents pearling and splash and the concave running through the base provides lift off the wave face.
